midsummer light dream

I recently bought the Tord Boontje Midsummer Light. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit over my dining room light so now I have to figure out what to do with it. I really like it so I will eventually find a place for it but I originally bought it for Christmas since I was hosting dinner for the family this year. Maybe next year...

attention music fans

I ran across this post for Hype Machine's Music Blog Zeitgeist 2009, which is a collection of the 50 best albums, artists and songs of 2009 picked by a group of music bloggers. There are so many things I like about this website. I have already found new bands that I have never heard of, the collection of original artwork for each artist is beautiful, and the actual web design and functionality of the site is simple and clean. I work in the interactive space so the small details here are impressive. Enjoy!

miracle oil

I know that this product isn't new to a lot of people but it's new to me and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I tried it while I was on vacation with my sister (what are sister's for after all if not to try all their beauty products and "borrow" clothes from) and I could not believe the results. I applied just a tad of the Moroccanoil® Oil Treatment when my hair was damp and that was it. No hair dryer. No brush. Just soft, silky shiny hair. I now use it every morning and it's a miracle worker!

malin & goetz

A friend introduced me to Malin & Goetz (thanks Tara!) and I was immediately hooked. Because I love everything they make, I"m slowly building up my home inventory. My faves so far include the lotus root perfume, detox face mask, grapefruit face cleanser and the vitamin e moisturizer. I recently got the eucalyptus deodorant which is both alcohol and aluminum free so I am excited to see how that works out.

They come out with new scents every so often (just got the new geranium leaf perfume!) and the great part is that all of their products are meant to be for both men and women. I like that (my husband likes it too since he sneaks my face wash and moisturizer on dry days) and what's best, it means that the scents are clean, fresh and not overly perfumey. According to their philosophy, their products consist of "formulas without unnecessary detergents, colorants and synthetic fragrances creating the most effective systems to simplify your life." Love it!

It's already snowed a few times this year and there are freezing temps all across the country. Makes me want to stay in and cuddle up for the afternoon. Here are a few things I have my eye on to help me get that cozy cabin yet modern feel.

1. moose head, 2. blanket, 3. horn cups, 4. flowers, 5. votives, 6. lamp, 7. umbrella stand, 8. chair

frosted arrives in LA

Frosted Cupcakery just opened a new store in Los Angeles and they were recently featured in the LAist. Even better, if you're in LA, visit them at 1200 N. Highland Ave - north of Santa Monica and south of Fountain.

They have cupcakes (so many flavors!), mini cupcakes, jumbo cupcakes (!), ice cream filled cupcakes and even pupcakes, which are meat-filled cupcakes for your dog.

'nough said.

west village townhouse

Julie and Luke Janklow's white townhouse, which recently sold, was featured in Vogue and although the townhouse features an elevator, how could you pass up these stairs!
